Snake Damage

by Kathleen Jequinto / Commissioner

Why did Steve Aoki have to end?  :[ We’re never gonna have anyone spit red Gatorade on a crowd again (srsly thought there were tons of fights in the crowd until I realized it was Gatorade on people’s shirts and not injuries)…

February is going to be insane.  It’s gonna slowly pick up with Ingrid then imagine a cluster of events within two weeks including everything from Zooey Deschanel (as Summer in (500) Days of Summer, haha got ya) to Del tha Funky Homosapien to Battle of the Bands to Dead Prez to Sara Haze to Saul Williams.  Oh, and Sandra Bullock swooping in and saving the day in The Blind Side of course.

Del will be the first time we’re having underground hip hop since Dilated in Fall 08.  I’m wayyyy pumped to have that crowd back again.  Plus, it’s always really funny to see how hard the concertgoers can try to act when they get patted down.  It’s been awhile since I’ve heard buzz about new underground so this’ll be tight to see.  All I know is that when Hiero came, we filled the entire room from wall to wall.  Find me in my white tall tee… jk that’s The Federation (who ate like 5 buckets of KFC like champs btw).

On a completely separate note, we’re currently working with different student groups and other nonprofits to organize a concert to benefit those affected by the recent disaster in Haiti.  I’m really looking forward to joining SB community and students together for a greater cause.  If I had a bit more moola, I’d be donating more.  I’m at least glad I can contribute this way.

Pretty please if you’re a singer songwriter or are in a band at UCSB, send your demos over!  We want to get a huge pile of demos to listen to and get you to perform for Battle of the Bands and our Singer Songwriter show.  We love hearing the talent that comes out of this place.  Peep the deadlines on the website.

In other news, it’s really cold in my office and I can no longer type.  When are they gonna make typer-friendly gloves?!  Someone patent them and we’ll get you to speak at Campbell Hall.
